Commward 2026: what the twelfth edition rewards, and what it asks of entrants

Entries close on Wednesday 4 November. The awards gala follows on 28 November. A close reading of this year's categories and rules shows a show that asks for proof before polish, adds its first category for AI, and keeps a map of awards shaped by the Bangladeshi market.

Proof is the price of entry

The clearest signal in the 2026 rules is how much evidence an entry must carry. A case board is mandatory in 21 of the 33 categories. Results claimed in the story must match screenshots of the underlying data. Each entry needs a No Objection Certificate from the client with a physical seal and signature; e-signatures and email confirmations are not accepted. The written description is capped at 500 words, in the third person, and a case AV that runs past two minutes is disqualified.

Taken together, these rules describe a show built around demonstrated outcome rather than presentation. That favours agencies with analytics discipline, and clients willing to put their numbers on record. It also makes the entry itself a useful document: a credited, evidenced account of what a campaign set out to do and what it achieved.

AI gets its own category

Best Use of AI is the only category marked new for 2026. Its brief sets a high bar. AI must be a core driver of the campaign, not a production shortcut, and entrants must show measurable impact on performance, creative output or customer experience.

The test for the jury will be whether AI is the idea or simply the tooling. Two things are worth watching. First, how many entries clear that bar in the category's first year. Second, the rules do not ask entrants in other categories, such as Film, Art Direction or Copywriting, to disclose AI use. As generated imagery and voice become routine in production, that question will reach the craft categories sooner or later.

A map drawn for Bangladesh

Several categories describe the local market more honestly than a copy of an international awards structure would. Native rewards work rooted in local culture, language and belief. Rural Marketing is open to campaigns that built or rebuilt a brand's presence outside the cities. Small Budget Media Campaign caps total production and media spend at BDT 500,000, which recognises how much effective work in Bangladesh is made with modest money. Campaign for Women and Campaign for Positivity both require measurable change, not good intentions alone.

At the other end, Luxury and B2B widen the field to categories that have often sat outside the mainstream of local award shows.

Rewarding time, not only the season

Two categories look beyond the eligibility window. Long Term Brand Platform welcomes campaigns that have run for more than five years and created lasting value for a business or society. It is the category closest to how an archive sees advertising: durability is evidence in its own right.

Best Unpublished Work sits at the opposite pole. It honours fully developed ideas that never ran, judged on concept, craft and storytelling. In a show that otherwise insists on proof of results, it is a deliberate exception, and a reminder that some of the strongest thinking in any agency never reaches the public.

The cost of entering

With VAT, each entry costs BDT 16,100. The fee applies per category, so a campaign entered in five categories costs BDT 80,500 before production. Production is not trivial: case AVs, case boards at 7063 × 5008 pixels, 3D model visuals for outdoor and experience work, packaging samples with a demo AV of up to 50 seconds, and lab-printed mount boards for Art Direction, Copywriting and Print. Fees are not refunded, including on disqualification.

Best Campaign by New Agency gives agencies under five years old a dedicated route. Even so, cost shapes who enters, and an awards shortlist measures the work that was submitted, not the full market. That is worth remembering when results are read as a ranking of the industry.

Points to check before you submit

  • Eligibility dates. The Rules section gives 16 August 2025 to 15 October 2026. The FAQ on the same page gives 1 June 2025 to 15 August 2026. Confirm with the organiser before entering work from the edges of either window.
  • Contact address. The nomination email appears as both commward.com and commaward.com on the page. Use the address the organiser confirms.
  • Anonymity. Agency names and logos must not appear in the case AV. This is grounds for disqualification.
  • Credits. All agencies on a campaign (creative, media, digital, BTL) must be credited, and a co-lead must be named at entry. Lead agencies cannot be changed afterwards, and submitted details appear on trophies and winner posts.
  • Materials. Downloaded files only; YouTube, Facebook and Instagram links are not accepted. The Google Drive folder must stay public until 31 December 2026. Physical materials are due within three days of submission.
  • Duplicates. If a client and its agency enter the same campaign in the same category, the agency's entry stands.

What we will be watching on 28 November

Three questions will say more about the state of the industry than the trophy count. How widely are wins spread across agencies, and how many go to new or independent shops? Does Best Use of AI produce a winner that is genuinely AI-led? And do the effectiveness categories and the craft categories reward the same work, or different work?

Ads of Bangladesh will record the Commward 2026 results as award records, credited to the brands, agencies and people behind each piece of work.
