Editorial policy

The archive is only useful if it can be trusted. These are the standards every record and article on The Ads of Bangladesh is held to.

Effective: [effective date]

1. What we include

We document advertising created for, or substantially in, Bangladesh: work by Bangladeshi brands and agencies, international brands’ work made for the Bangladeshi market, and Bangladeshi agencies’ work recognized abroad. We include work across every medium, from press ads and television to outdoor, digital, social and activations. Inclusion is a decision about historical or craft value, never about who pays.

2. What we leave out

We do not publish work that was never released, unless its owner submits it and asks for it to be included. We do not publish material that was obtained in confidence, ads that break the law of Bangladesh, or work whose only purpose is to attack a person.

3. Accuracy and sources

Every fact on a record comes from a source we can name: the work itself, the brand or agency, an award show’s published results, a dated publication, or a credited contributor. When a fact is uncertain, we say so (for example, “year approximate”) instead of guessing. Records show the date they were last reviewed.

4. Credits

We credit agencies and people only when we can verify them. Credits supplied by the agency or the brand take priority. When credits are incomplete, we say so on the record and invite corrections. We never remove a correct credit at anyone’s request, but we will correct a wrong one.

5. Independence

No brand, agency or advertiser can pay to be included, featured, ranked or reviewed. Editor’s picks and analysis are chosen by the editorial team alone. If we ever carry sponsorship or partnerships, they will be labeled clearly and kept separate from editorial decisions.

6. Conflicts of interest

Our team and contributors work in the industry they document. When someone writing or reviewing a record or an article has worked on that work, for that brand or for a competing agency, we disclose it at the end of the piece, or another editor handles it.

7. Analysis and opinion

Analysis pieces are clearly marked and signed. Opinions are the author’s, argued from evidence in the archive. We describe campaigns fairly, including work we do not admire, and we do not publish anonymous criticism of named people.

8. Corrections

We correct errors quickly and openly. Factual corrections are made on the record, and significant ones are noted at the foot of the page with the date. To report an error, use “Suggest a correction” on any record or email [email protected]. We reply within seven days.

9. Use of AI

We may use AI tools to help transcribe copy, translate between Bangla and English, and suggest metadata. An editor checks every AI-assisted entry before it is published. We do not publish AI-generated images as archive material, and we never use AI to invent facts, credits or quotes.

10. Contributors

Contributors are credited by name on the records they help create, unless they ask not to be. Contributor submissions go through the same review as everything else.
